What is Permanent Cosmetics?
Permanent cosmetics or micropigmentation is a procedure that delicately implants micro-insertions of medical grade hypoallergenic pigments made especially
for the delicate tissues of the face. The pigment is applied gently between the epidermal and dermal layers of the skin with a sterile, disposable probe.
Permanent cosmetics are beautiful alone or can be combined with traditional makeup for a stunning worry-free look.
The art of permanent cosmetics has been in existence since the Ice Age, when natural substances were used to create colorful art in the skin. Cleopatra
is believed to have been adorned with permanent cosmetics and Egyptian mummies were recovered with face and body tattoos intact. The ancient Japanese art
of Tebori boasts full-body tattooing intricately done by hand. Modern day advancements in technology have impacted methodology and colors that are manufactured
for cosmetic micropigmentation. Permanent cosmetics is rapidly gaining popularity as women everywhere are eager to have natural, fresh-looking makeup all
day, every day, saving countless hours from fussing with pencils, tubes and brushes.

Does the procedure hurt?
We take every precaution necessary to ensure your permanent cosmetics application be as pain-free as possible. A wide range of physician-grade topical
anesthetics are used for your comfort.
How long do the pigments last?
If cared for properly, permanent make-up can last several years; most people will experience a gradual fading over time and may require a touch-up in
order to maintain the color and vibrancy.
How long is the recovery period?
Most people do experience some degree of redness or swelling post procedure, but are able to resume their normal activities immediately afterward. The
swelling may cause the eyebrows or lips to look uneven, but will correct itself once the swelling subsides. Clients are usually able to resume work the
same day. Colors will appear darker immediately following the procedure and for the first few days, but then lighten to a completely natural look
during the following few weeks.
Is Permanent Cosmetics permanent?
In order to keep permanent cosmetics looking natural, lighter-blended pigment colors are used, as opposed to ink used with traditional body tattoos.
Some of the variables that affect longevity include the depth of pigments, color selected, skin type, and proper post care. Other factors such as
Ultra-violet exposure from sun or tanning booths, various drugs and excessively dry skin, use of Alpha- hydroxy, Retin-A, and glycolic acid all accelerates
the skin’s exfoliation process, gradually sloughing away top layers of the skin and eventually the layer of skin that the pigment has been implanted into.
Sunblock on eyebrows, sunglasses for eyeliner, and SPF on lips can effectively prolong the color and vibrancy of the pigments.
Is it safe?
Safety and sanitation is of utmost priority at MesmerEyes, as micro-pigmentation is a skin invasive procedure. We observe the strictest guidelines as set
forth by the OSHA for disease control. Disposable, sterile needles and surgical gloves are used for each procedure. Rest assured our practitioners are
all properly licensed and certified.
How long do the procedures take?
We take great care in designing a flattering shape and customized color specifically for your facial features, personality and lifestyle. As such, you
will never feel rushed. Allowing time for anesthetics to take effect, the average time for the initial visit is about 2 – 2.5 hours.
What is the post-procedure care?
After completion, you will receive a post-treatment care instructional sheet. The overall success of your procedure is contingent upon you following these
instructions. A follow-up visit will be scheduled approximately 4-6 weeks from your initial application. This is to fine tune and touch-up any area of the
skin that may have expelled the pigment.
Do I have to take any precautions prior to a lip procedure?
If you have ever had a cold sore or fever blister, you must take and antiviral pre-procedure. Your physician may prescribe Valtrex, Famvir or Zovirax.
Herpetic outbreaks usually occur on the 3rd day post procedure and taking antivirals will lessen your chance of an outbreak, you may lose the implanted
pigment color in the area of the outbreak.
How will I look immediately following my procedure?
Your procedure area may be slightly swollen and irritated. This is called a "wheal and flare" reaction. The area will be darker for a few days while
it is healing because of the lymph and blood droplets that may have been brought to the surface during your application. While the procedure area is healing,
it must go through three phases before you will experience your final results. The procedure area must first heal, peel and then fade. Final shade of color
may take 4-8 weeks to reveal.
How many appointments will be necessary?
Four to six weeks after the initial application, a follow-up visit may be requested to fine-tune or perfect lines and/or color. This visit does not require
as much time as the initial procedure.
What if I want to change my lips to a different color in the future?
As permanent cosmetics professionals, we never do anything that is too trendy. It is designed to act as an enhancement to your natural features. We use
colors that are custom blended to compliment your skin tone, eye and hair color to give a soft natural appearance. The final result is a subtle, natural look
that is fitting to your lifestyle. Regular cosmetics may be applied directly over the pigmented brows, eyeliners and lips anytime a more dramatic look is
desired. However, putting on makeup will become a fun option for special occasions, not an everyday necessity.
